About

That’s right folks…I moved to ALASKA.

Let’s see…about me…sometimes if I’m really tired I sleep in my car on my lunch break. I almost always sneeze in multiples of three. I talk in my sleep. I sing loudly in the car on the way to work. I love fresh flowers. I can sleep through anything…including but not exclusively my alarm clock. I love Pop Tarts…but not toasted. I prefer my popcorn with M and Ms…don’t knock it til you try it. It makes me angry when people are passionate about things they know nothing about. I watch more CNN and Fox News than anyone I know. I used to be incredibly shy. When I’m stressed…I shop. Typically for shoes. It really makes me angry when people are rude to waiters. I like to fish. Men love me fish fear me. I once rented an elephant. (Actually…two.) I compulsively change my nail color about once a week. I would love to live in another country…even if for just a year. I know the words to almost every song on the radio but I never know the name of the song or the name of the artist. I never really feel at home in a new apartment until I’ve been sick there. For some reason that helps me bond with a new place. I’m allergic to pine scented laundry detergent. I’m also allergic to cigarette smoke. If I could be anything…I would either want to sing country music, or be a professional wedding planner. I’ve never been able to understand why some women can walk in heels and some cannot. I’m glad I’m one of those that can.

  1. yikes! I sent the last one off before I was done.

Anyway, I was looking for a place to do team building for the company I work for, some one suggested Whirly ball(no, we don’t have one) and I ended up reading your blog. I would be more than happy to answer any questions you have about Alaska.

We already have termination dust on the mountains(a dusting of snow)The puddles in my yard are starting to freeze at night. The leaves are. . . .leaving.

Winter can be paradise as long as you dress for the cold, find a sport to do outside and have hot butter rum mix in the fridge. There is a poem by Robert Frost, The Spell of the Yukon, last lines are “It’s the beauty that thrills me with wonder, It’s the stillness that fills me with peace.” I hope by coming here you find the thrill and/or the peace you want.

Oh yeah, try not to bitch about the cold. Most true Alaskans feel “if it’s too cold for you, move south or shut up”. Truth be, we like it cold it keeps the population down so the ones that truely belong here can thrive. Keep your mind open and expect nothing, This place reveles it’s wonder when your not expecting it.

Last thought for you is, I have lived up here most of my life and there hasn’t been a day of it I haven’t saw something that made me say “WOW!” All the best, M.

  2. OMG I sometimes go to my car to sleep at lunch too! :)

  3. I sleep in my car in the parking lot when I’m really tired, too!
