One day (a few months ago), my friend Marijke brought up the idea of a winter vacation. After some research it was decided that she is pretty much the smartest person ever and that we must make the appropriate plans post haste.
So we did.
And tomorrow we leave (frozen) Alaska for the sunny state of California…and equally sunny Baja Mexico. We will miss Alaska (not) as we sail the high seas for several days on a cruise ship…and generally just enjoy being somewhere that doesn’t involve nose freeze. AND…somewhere that has a Chick Fil A. AND…somewhere that has real, actual shopping malls. Oh the wonder of it all…
We will be gone for over a week.
A week you say?
Yes. A week. It will be the first full week I’ve taken off work since 2005 and the first week I’ve taken only for vacation since 2004. How will I handle all of this uninterrupted relaxation? I don’t know. But I’m thinking I’ll probably enjoy it VERY much.
This vacation not only gives me a much needed break from the cold weather, but also an opportunity to spend a week with one of my very favorite people. You can’t beat that! It remains to be seen if M. will still be speaking to me after an entire week of listening to me snore at night…but my fingers are crossed.
Try not to miss me too much.
