For more info see this post.
This post is something that I’ve wanted to put together for a while. People (mostly friends from TX) frequently ask me what life is really like here.
And this post will illustrate one small piece of my life that I’ve come to appreciate.
My drive to work.
That sounds odd, right? Does anyone [...]

The Red Cross recommends that we have a “volcano preparedness kit”. Recommended items include…
Flashlight and Batteries
Water
Emergency Food Supply
Candles
Face Masks
Goggles
I went to Fred Meyer yesterday to buy the appropriate items for MY “volcano preparedness kit”.
Coke (because, let’s face it, it would be a real disaster if I wasn’t properly caffeinated)
The newest issue of Glamour
A new nailpolish
One [...]

My brother-in-law casually mentioned to me last night that Mt. Redoubt is about to erupt. Let’s just say that I don’t take everything he says super seriously. But I decided to do a little research on this one for myself.
And I found this.
And this.
And even this.
Oh my word.
Let’s just say that the Alaskan welcoming committee [...]

I work on a specific report each month at work. The data for this report is generated from an Excel spreadsheet. (Yes, my job really is that exciting.)
Anyway, I find this particular report to be the most boring and mundane part of my job. I’ve switched job titles and offices in the past month and [...]

Prepare yourself for a post in which I gush about my new skincare products.
This is my first “product recommendation” in quite some time. Really…it has been a while since I’ve bought any new product. So unlike me! I might have a new post in a few days about a new eyeshadow I’m using [...]

I’ll be traveling in a few weeks and bought a new carry-on suit case today. I was checking the Alaska Air website to educate myself on their carry-on size restrictions to make sure the newly acquired wheeled duffel bag would be acceptable. (It is by the way.)
They also list several items that can be carried [...]

I was a blanket kid. I carried around my tattered blankie for a LONG time…and slept with it longer than that. I’m way too embarrassed to divulge when exactly I stopped sleeping with it…but I will tell you that it was some time after I started kindergarten and before I left for college.
But the story [...]

Let me preface this by saying that my mom is one of my favorite people in the whole world. That woman is a good egg. And, yes, although we have had our differences from time to time…she gets me.
BUT…she also sends some bizarre care packages. For instance…my sister got a package from my mom a [...]

I’m pretty fired up about this one.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/first100days/2009/01/21/obama-lift-ban-funding-groups-providing-abortions-overseas/
I’ve always been pretty outspoken on how I feel about abortion.
But let’s say for a moment…let’s pretend that I think it is okay. That’s a pretty big leap.
Why are we funding abortions in other countries?
This certainly isn’t a practice that began with this administration and I doubt it will [...]
