As I think about celebrating my one year “anniversary” of life here in the last frontier…I am taking a moment to reflect on how different my life was one year ago.
A year ago I was in Dallas…pondering where life would take me and making preparations for a move.
Today I am in Alaska…pondering where life will [...]

This will probably be my first and last post devoted solely to politics.
I’ve talked to a lot of people about the election during the past few weeks. And, not always by choice. I’ve been done mentally with this election for a while.
I don’t know that I’ve ever agreed with EVERYTHING a political candidate said. In [...]

I had big Christmas plans this year. I was shopping tickets to make a trip home for almost two weeks. I had secured the time off work. Plans were made. Hopes were up.
And then…life threw me a curveball. A GREAT curveball. New job. Love it. A lot. But…not really in a position to take off [...]

Winter.
I think it’s here.
Yesterday was tragically cold…and today does not promise to be much better.
Even more disturbing…I find myself enjoying it. I even find myself wishing that it would snow.
Odd, fo sho.
And…I just realized that I am watching the sunrise out of my office window.
What is odd about this, you ask?
It’s 9:15 am.
How is it [...]

Were you raised being taught that certain topics of conversation were off limits?
My mom always taught me that you only discuss religion and politics with your very close friends. And, she taught me to never discuss money with anyone. For example…never, ever, ask someone what they paid for a large ticket item…or how much [...]

I’ve realized recently that I’ve changed a lot over the past year.
For instance…when I graduated from high school I removed myself from Tom Bean, TX as quickly as possible. I went “away” to college…I moved to Dallas after that…and I tried as hard as I could to visit as infrequently as possible. It wasn’t my [...]

Presidential elections happen every four years. I will vote (in just a few weeks) in my third presidential election.
I can still remember “mock” voting in the 1988 election at Tom Bean Elementary School. I thought it was so cool. Bush won by a landslide. Even at the tender age of 8 I knew that the [...]

The trip to Texas this weekend “hit the spot”. It was just what I needed. The time spent with my family was perfect…and I had a great time during my limited hours in Dallas. For once…everything seemed to fall together. My flights all were uneventful…and I didn’t get sick! The weather in TX was beautiful [...]

I know it’s Thursday…but I’m not working today so that means it’s kind of like Friday. : )
And, it’s snowing. A LOT. I love looking at the snow. Driving on it? Not so much. It took me a few minutes to get adjusted to driving in those conditions. Okay…so I slid through an intersection (or [...]

Disney World?
Nope.
The correct answer is…THE ANCHORAGE TARGET.
It opened to the public today. I went. Almost cried. Seriously. Purchased lip gloss and a book for my plane ride tomorrow night. Almost bought about a billion other things. Seriously considered a blue corduroy trench coat. Might go back for that one.
I meant to take my camera so [...]
